Congressional Scrutiny redefines CMMC
As Congress turns up the scrutiny of cyber standards, Last week, the IT-AAC signed an MOU with DOD’s CMMC Accreditation Board (CMMCAB.org) to establish an independent Industry Advisory Council and COE that will bring together the many communities of practice supporting the DIB and the Cyber community, including Federal Agencies, SBM contractors, Universities, Industry Groups, Standard Bodies, Think Tanks and Association stake holders.
The CMMC-COE will now run in parallel to the CMMC-AB who are completely focused on establishing certification processes with 3PAOs, creating a resource center that will support Small Medium Businesses. The COE will integrate the resources and expertise from diverse cyber communities of interests and DIB sectors to deliver low cost, high impact services delivered by our partner network.
Also, CMMC-COE approach to security standards as well as security reference architectures will be more comprehensive, and will include a variety of global supply chains in managing the risk. These supply chains are not limited only to the DIB, but shall apply to diverse industries such as energy (generation, transmission, distribution), pharma, food, banking and more.
