On July 28, 2020, Chair, Strategic Relations Group, and Executive Director of IT-AAC, Mr. John Weiler and Mr. Ty Schieber, Chairman of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Board (CMMC-AB), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Cyber (CMMC) Center of Excellence that builds on IT-AAC’s existing congressionally chartered “digital do tank”.

This expanded Public/Private Center of Excellence will leverage and aggregate the significant and expertise of leading Cyber shops (SDOs, NGOs, EDU, .Mil, .Orgs) under one umbrella with the following goals.

• Bring together the many voices across the DIB Supply Chain to help advise govt, congress, and industry on best ways of meeting the goals of the CMMC.
• Provide an honest broker and force multiplier for SMBs to get educated and prepared for CMMC and related Cyber hygiene standards. 
• Help enable existing DIB Communities of Practice and Industry Groups keep abreast of emerging changes, threats and educational programs that can be applied within their own domain, in a shared expense/revenue model.
• Repurpose and leverage the CMMC SMEs, frameworks and training material, already ready and available.
• Help our NATO partners leverage the CMMC within their own supply chains.  Our first engagement will be with www.CMMC-EU.com

As you recall, the IT-AAC was chartered in 2007 as a Public/Private Partnership and adding CMMC is a natural extension of our work. CMMC-AB is incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2020 is an authoritative source to manage, control and administer CMMC assessments, certifications and accreditations processes for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
